Prompt #2
Read about the application of Bloom’s taxonomy to the digital world in Chapter 1 of Technology Applications for the Digital Classroom. Evaluate whether you believe Bloom’s taxonomy is a perfect fit for teaching and learning in the 21st century, as the author contends, or if you believe it is an outdated taxonomy for the digital classroom.
I believe that Blooms taxonomy is still a perfect fit for the classroom because although many teachers do not focus on affect motor skills the cognitive aspect is still very important. The revised version is better because it focuses on the area that is more important and still relevant today. Bloom's taxonomy is very useful when planning activities or discussion questions for the classroom. Their are many action words for all 6 elements or steps in Bloom's taxonomy. The steps are knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. These steps are in order according to your knowledge. Each time you go to the next step you have more knowledge about the situation or problem. Bloom's taxonomy was first geared to a science world but you can use this with any subject and even use technology to apply it.
